Needless to say, I cancelled my entire appointment and will look elsewhere. I was informed those were for members only, and patrons visiting the spa just for the day were not welcome to use them. Lastly, I asked about other amenities within the spa – such as saunas/steam room. Im not sure why this information couldn’t have been presented up front, and saved me 20 minutes on the phone. I went through the entire process of setting up an account for both myself an my partner, and booking massages, before Jason informed me that actually, no one would be available to give facials that day. The gentleman I spoke with, Jason, seemed very unsure about service provided and general appointment scheduling practices. I stated from the beginning that I wanted to book a massage and facial for two. It felt as though my business wasn’t particularly important to them. I don’t mind holding until someone is available to speak with me, but once I am speaking with someone, to be repeatedly interrupted and placed on hold is frustrating. I called back and was placed on hold twice more during the duration of the call. When I called to make an appointment, I was placed on hold, which was fine, and then hung up on. Just had a really disappointing experience with Equinox –and I didn’t even make it as far as using the facilities themselves! I am not a member of the club, but was hoping to book massages and facials for myself and my boyfriend. The left side is the morning, and the right side is the afternoon to help break the day up into manageable pieces. The full-day schedule was too long to use a pocket chart, so I put the visual schedule on a thick ribbon with Velcro dots. I made a blue square with an arrow that we can move to show what part of the day we are currently in. Since I started the half-day program, I use this black schedule pocket chart for my visual schedule. It is a permanent, visual reminder students can use a reference as needed throughout the day.Įvery day during calendar time, we review our visual schedule together as a class and discuss any changes we have in our day. Research tells us little learners NEED visual schedules and consistent routines. Students learn the sequence of the day and can begin to predict and anticipate what will come next. Another helpful side effect of scheduling is that fewer problem behaviors occur when a schedule is consistently followed. Routines help students feel safe and secure because they know what is coming next and what is expected. Schedules and routines are so important for our little learners (and teachers too). Click a document to download it in iWork ’09, Microsoft Office, or PDF format. Just sign in to /iwork in any modern web browser, and all your iWork for iOS documents will be there - complete with your most recent edits. ICloud makes it easy to move Pages, Keynote, and Numbers documents between your computer and your iOS devices. iCloud integration works with the folder-based system that was introduced in iWork for iOS earlier this year: you can create folders, and manage documents inside them. Unfortunately Apple isn’t providing a new version of iWork for OS X with iCloud support built-in, but users can visit to download and upload documents created with iWork on iOS. As Apple demoed at WWDC in June, you can create a document on Pages for iPhone and that document will be stored in iCloud and pushed to other devices as you start editing the document, changes will also be pushed to the cloud, and back to the devices configured with your iCloud account that have iWork installed. I have been testing iCloud support in iWork for iOS in the weeks prior to iCloud’s launch, and it works flawlessly. You can find the updated versions of Pages, Numbers and Keynote in the App Store now. It’s also a good thing because users can take a look at the new iWork ’13 and familiarise with the new interface of Pages, Numbers and Keynote, but they can go back to the old versions if they need backward compatibility or if the new versions are a bit too streamlined for their tastes. The iWork apps for iOS, available for the iPhone and iPad at $9.99 on the App Store, have been updated today with iCloud integration, which will allow users to store their documents in the cloud, and have changes pushed instantly to all their devices, as well as the iWork document interface on. Which is a good thing, considering the loss of certain features. I haven’t updated yet, but I’m told that the update doesn’t overwrite your old iWork ’09 apps. Your mileage may vary, but I just wanted to share and clarify that, yes, if you regularly bought a boxed copy of iWork ’09 or if it came bundled with your Mac even if you purchased it as far back as 2009, you should get the updated iWork suite for free. Now even the Aperture 3.5 Update shows up. Well, I did just that and it worked for me. That fix appears to have been implemented on Thursday, several users told Macworld that they were getting the Accept Apps prompt.Ī few people in the comments, equally affected by this issue, talked about a workaround to fix it: make sure that English is set as your primary language in OS X Mavericks, restart the Mac, download the iWork Update 9.3 and re-apply it (even if you already did in the past), and when you go back to the Mac App Store you’ll see the new iWork apps as pending free updates. Do you want to buy ?” Macworld spoke with an Apple spokesperson who noted that there’s currently an issue with some legacy customers, and the company is working on a fix. Some users (including yours truly) are reporting issues where the Mac App Store doesn’t recognize their copies when they click on an iLife or iWork app’s price, they receive the following alert: “ is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store. If you own iLife ’11 or iWork ’09 apps for the Mac but did not purchase them from the Mac App Store: You should be able to download the latest versions for free by going to the Mac App Store and tapping Update, though you may need to first visit the Purchases screen, where you might see a box called “You Have Apps to Accept.” This ties apps you have on your computer to both your Apple ID and a hardware identifier on your computer, and it should allow you to download free updates to these programs from any computer associated with your Apple ID. On the other I was also thinking that maybe I was eligible and that I was affected by the issue Macworld mentions in this bit: Could I be eligible for a free update of the iWork suite, having received it in bundle when I purchased my MacBook Pro in July 2009? On the one hand I was thinking: Well, I haven’t purchased a Mac ‘on or after October 1, 2013’, so the Mac App Store is right and I should purchase the updated apps at full price. Older versions of the software will require paid updates.īoth the article at MacStories and the linked Macworld article made me wonder. Customers who purchased iWork and iLife ’09 and up on disc should be able to upgrade via the Purchased tab in the Mac App Store. As Macworld reports, this isn’t the case as it’s a bug in Apple’s system. You’ll have to purchase the new versions in the Mac App Store unless you buy a new Mac. If you purchased iWork or iLife in a box (iWork or iLife ’09): You probably have either because you have an older Mac. A couple of weeks ago, I was reading MacStories’ Overview: Apple Updates iLife and iWork Apps, Makes Them Free for New Customers, and this bit in particular caught my eye, near the end of the article: Therefore, you need to replace them occasionally to keep the chemical filtration effective. Haydn ends this quartet with a short snappy finale which, like many of Haydn’s finales, has a rural dance flavour to it, with drone tones aplenty and the first violin playing village fiddler throughout. This movement may well have been one of his real knee-slappers. Haydn is known to have burst out laughing at his own musical jokes when listening to his string quartets performed by others. This is followed by a trio that begins on a series of repeated notes on the pitch D, sort of implying D minor from the previous section – but no! A lusty full-throated D major chord suddenly bursts into our ears in the same repeated-note pattern to resolve the ambiguity. Sometimes called the Hexenmenuett (Witch’s Minuet), it opens with an austere, bare-bones two-voice canon between upper and lower voices in D minor. The Menuetto is even more eccentric still. This is Haydn’s dry humour at its most arch. In the end, though, it is the constant tick-tock in the first violin of falling thirds that makes the whole movement sound like a kind of grandfather clock, coyly aided and abetted by a dainty pizzicato accompaniment in the other instruments. The melody line features simple falling fifths, filled-in chordal fifths, and fifths filled in with runs. Here he seems to wink slyly back at the first movement by running its “falling interval” motive into the ground through constant repetition. The Andante più tosto allegretto that follows is a kind of variation movement – but then again, everything in Haydn seems to be a “variation” because of his mono-thematic mindset: using the same motives over and over again in different guises throughout a single movement. Needless to say, this quartet was aptly named. In the development section there is hardly a single bar without this motive in some voice or other, either straight-up, inverted, in stretto, or in diminution. It seems to be always in circulation somewhere in the texture, getting passed around between the instruments like a decanter of sherry between gentlemen in dinner jackets smoking cigars. It even chaperones the second theme, meant to contrast with it. These two motivic elements – half-note fifths set against 8th-note counter-play – will constitute virtually the entire motivic material from which Haydn’s fashions this movement, with the half-note fifth motive playing the leading role throughout. The work opens in eyebrow-knitting earnestness with a falling-fifth motive in the 1st violin that gives the quartet its nickname (“Fifths”), accompanied by a hand-wringing patter of anxious 8th notes in the other instruments. The second quartet in the set, in D minor, is remarkable for the extreme contrasts of mood that characterize its four movements, which alternate between high seriousness and playful contentment. 76, completed in 1797, we catch Haydn near the end of his career and at the height of his powers, during the period in which he was also composing his oratorio The Creation. The string quartet had become, in the words of Haydn scholars Floyd and Margaret Grave, “an exemplary genre for connoisseurs.” They require players alert to the cross-chatter of lively ensemble playing, in textures that represent, as Goethe was famously to remark, an intelligent conversation between four individuals. These are technically demanding works based on the relentless pursuit of motivic development, bristling with learned counterpoint and even fugues. And the transformation is complete with the publication of his Op. 9 quartets of 1770, however, a different type of quartet begins to emerge, laid out in just four movements, each distinct in character and mood. These were carefree works with simple textures and uncomplicated formal designs and were aimed at amateur musicians of moderate ability.īeginning with Haydn’s Op. His earliest quartets were divertimento-like, comprised of five movements (two of which were minuets) and were written in Rococo style with an eye towards simplicity, grace and elegance. Haydn is known as the father of the string quartet for his leading role in transforming the genre from its origins as light entertainment into a vehicle for serious composition, worthy of standing beside the instrumental sonata and the orchestral symphony.
Players should prepare to lose themselves in strategy, while unlocking Heroes, fighting over 60 Enemies, and enjoying what each tower throws at them. While gameplay is certainly challenging, that is kind of the point of a tower defense game. Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ is a great addition to Apple Arcade, complete with comic-themed art, cute action fighting dialogue, and towers that get cuter and cuter as players advance. So, they may end up sticking with a previous hero that works for their gameplay. As players unlock new heroes, they will find the next hero isn't necessarily more powerful than the last.Challenge increases with each tower and as new enemies are introduced.Jack O'Lantern- Skilled Knight and Jack O'Lantern Mercenary.EisKalt- Son of Jokull and heir to the north.Doom Tank SG-11- Machine and "Harbinger of Doom".All in all, with over 60 enemies ranging from Woodcutters to Alchemists to Nanoq Warbears, players will find that each new enemy comes with its own challenges and players will have to consider their actions based on those complex enemies. In fact, I found myself wanting to play as some of the strong, epic, creative enemies offered in Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+. Some Heroes are simply better than other, so players will have to find out for themselves what they prefer based on their strategy and approach.Įnemies, however, are awesome. What I took issue with in terms of Heroes is that I expected the heroes to keep getting stronger and better and more effective, but this is not necessarily the case. The Heroes in Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ are unique, ranging from Orcs to Vampires to Dragons, and while not all Heroes are as successful as others, each hero is unlocked as players advance and can be leveled up and used depending on what hero players prefer. Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ includes 14 Heroes and over 60 Enemies, all with unique powers and abilities. What stops Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ from being redundant and predictable is, in part, due to the various Enemies and Heroes. In particular, casual is not that much easier than "Normal." Difficulty modes aren't distinct enough.Other reported bugs related to gameplay, such as freezing or inaccuracy of attacks.Bugs that cause towers to cease attacking randomly.Relevant achievements that help make gameplay satisfying and worthwhile.Various unlockable towers with pros and cons that help increase strategy difficulty.Interesting enemies that help add to gameplay variation.Seemingly endless variations of gameplay.Impossible- Not for the faint of heart (must first complete the campaign to play impossible mode).Veteran- Difficult ("Play at your own risk!").Normal- More challenging ("A good challenge!").For mobile gamers who love a tower defense game, previous Kingdom Rush games, or don't mind a challenge, Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ is worth a try, because it's both entertaining and challenging. That didn't stop me, though, from enjoying Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+, and spending many hours moving from tower to tower and wondering where my day went. And, though I expected "Casual" to be easy, it wasn't much easier than "Normal." However, I found that even "Normal" mode was difficult and more challenging than I expected. Of course, this is all dependent on what difficulty mode players chose. They can definitely try, it just might take a bit of time and dedication. That doesn't mean it isn't fun, just that players should expect to be able to get three stars for every tower. Maybe, I am out of practice, but I found Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ tricky. Generally, they are strategy-heavy games, whether they are mobile or not, and that's to be expected. I've played quite a few castle to tower defense games. The gameplay in Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ is, in a word, challenging. Though it has a few bugs to still be worked out, it's one of the more successful and entertaining tower defense games in the App Store. With comic-themed art and action words like "POW!" and "ZOK!," Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ is a cute, challenging tower defense. Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+, available to anyone who has an Apple Arcade subscription, is not the first Kingdom Rush to join Apple Arcade, but it is the best thus far. Of course, Kingdom Rush has had a following since 2011, making it one of the more popular defense and strategy games on mobile. On August 1st, 2022, directly following the launch of HEROish, Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ was released on Apple Arcade. Maybe the people at Apple have been as obsessed with mobile strategy games as I have because Kingdom Rush Vengeance TD+ is the second castle/tower defense game in less than two weeks.
